This week, the LAO team looked at vegetable oils and their benefits for hair . You can use them as an oil bath , leaving them on for 1 or 2 hours before washing your hair . Be careful, even if we use the term "bath", it is not a question of saturating your hair with oil, but rather of distributing a few drops (more or less depending on the thickness of your hair) on the lengths and/or roots.
For hair that tends to be oily , which already produces enough sebum , avoid the roots!
Organic and cold-pressed oils are preferred, as their nutritional qualities are not altered by the manufacturing method.
As usual, we have only selected oils that can be found as close to home as possible, to have a lower carbon impact , and benefit from traceability ! For a quality oil , you can buy it directly from the producer, or from small brands.
Here is our selection of 5 oils for your natural hair !
Mirabelle plum oil
Also known as the "gold of Lorraine", it is recommended for dry or damaged hair . This oil has detangling and nourishing properties . It is a good source of Omega 9 which will strengthen the hair and limit breakage.
Olive oil
This one is ideal for dry or colored hair . Particularly rich in polyphenols, this gives it an antioxidant power. Olive oil helps eliminate excess sebum present on your scalp and it also helps reduce dandruff . It also accelerates hair growth .
Grape seed oil
Perfectly suited to frizzy, afro hair. Indeed, thanks to its high fatty acid content (Omega 6 and 9), grape seed oil nourishes, softens and repairs the hair . It also allows colored (or bleached) hair to protect and preserve the color. Please note, for optimal quality, focus your searches in the cosmetics section (and not food) to find this oil.
Broccoli oil
This is a particularly nourishing oil that is perfect for curly, frizzy or dry hair . It will add shine and luster to your hair . Its three bonus actions: fight hair loss , detangle and make brushing easier and help tame unruly hair !
Hemp oil
We often talk about it for its nutritional qualities, since it is rich in omega 3, 6 and 9. Highly recommended for curly hair , this oil has particularly nourishing properties. It is also suitable for brittle and dull hair . Hemp oil nourishes the hair deeply and restores its elasticity. It provides shine and volume .
