While lather isn't necessarily useful for washing your hair, it's still nice to feel it in your hair when you shampoo! It gives a feeling of cleanliness and softness, in addition to allowing the product to be applied evenly across your entire scalp.
Natural shampoos have often gotten a bad rap because they're considered less lathering and therefore less pleasant to use. In reality, the cleansing agents used in natural shampoos don't have the same cleansing power as conventional shampoos. They must be even more well-formulated to ensure the lather is as effective as it is pleasant.
Conventional, or “chemical” shampoos are composed of sulfate derivatives (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, etc.), washing agents that are widely used because they are inexpensive and very foamy… but are also widely considered to be stripping, which can create imbalances in the scalp (itching, dandruff, etc.).
On the contrary, natural shampoos mostly contain washing agents derived from sugars, which themselves come from vegetable oils (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Decyl Glucoside, Lauryl Glucoside, etc.).
Obviously, if you switch from a chemical shampoo to a natural one, you will feel the difference in terms of lather, which is why we have written a short article to help you bring out the best in the lather of LAO shampoos!
LAO foam…
At LAO, we designed our shampoos based on sugar-derived ingredients: two glucosides and one glutamate. It's this perfect combination of the three, precisely measured, that creates a dense, generous, natural lather that cleanses without stripping!
We won't hide from you that we're quite proud of having managed to make a natural shampoo foam!
Some adjustments in usage may be necessary to ensure you get the best lather from LAO cleanser, so read on!
How to get foam?
First of all, it's important to thoroughly wet your hair before shampooing ! Sometimes, the problem simply comes from this step. If you don't wet your hair enough, your shampoo's lather will be very weak.
Once your hair is thoroughly wet, apply 2 or 3 pumps of your LAO shampoo to your hands, depending on the thickness and length of your hair. Since LAO shampoos are quite concentrated, a small amount is enough to create a subtle initial lather, which will help remove dust.
Rub your hands together gently, then start to gently massage your scalp! You should apply the product to the top of your head, at the nape of your neck, but also under the mass of hair behind your neck, taking your time and making circular movements with your fingertips. This will help to remove the sebum and tone the scalp by activating blood circulation!
If you're still wondering why your hair feels cleaner and lighter after leaving the hairdresser, take a look at how he shampoos and you'll see that he focuses a lot on the back of the head, which is too often forgotten!
Then, rinse your hair thoroughly and, above all, repeat the step a second time! It is this second wash that will allow you to obtain lastingly clean hair and certainly space out your washes, because it will finish removing the sebum.
To lather your treatment, there's no need to use a lot of product; the briskness of your movements is enough to create a pleasant lather! Furthermore, a shampoo that lathers a lot isn't necessarily a sign of cleaner hair.
