Between a few snips of the scissors and her preparations for Fashion Week, @lesbouclettesdeceline gave us a little special moment to chat about her wonderful career and how to take care of curly hair!
Hello Céline, can you describe yourself in a few lines?
Hello! My 16 years of experience in the hairdressing world allow me to have a particular sensitivity regarding my clients' expectations and to listen to them. I am a dynamic person and very positive in life in general. I like to please and make people happy!
What is your background and why did you choose the hairdressing field?
After 17 years of dancing, I had to reorient myself following my parents' divorce in order to find a career and earn a living quickly. So I started studying hairdressing by pure chance, but chance does things well because I found in this profession the means to express myself as an artist!
In fact, I passed and passed all the hairdressing diplomas and at the same time I managed to get into the French hairdressing team which earned me a nice track record:
- French Champion 2012
- European Champion 2011-2012
- 2010 World Champion
So I went to Paris and joined a large Parisian salon, Toni&Guy . My Parisian experience now allows me to work for the biggest names on the fashion week shows (Dior, Chanel, Chloé, Valentino, etc.).
Having become independent, I no longer do hairdressing in salons but as a freelancer in Paris and throughout France , which allows me to take care of my clients as I see fit.
Why did you specialize in curly hair? What's so special about it?
You should know that I don't only style curly hair because I have never selected my clients based on their hair. For me, all hair deserves special attention and for 16 years I have been learning every day how to enhance all hair. This allows me to bring my expertise to all hair types and especially curly hair. More specifically, curls generally have a complicated history with hairdressers. And in all modesty, I position myself as a savior of curls to make people understand that it is not a defect! You have to accept your curls and be proud of this particularity that must be enhanced and valued. You have to realize that each curl is different and that you have to treat them in their singularity.
Can you tell us how you became a fashion show hairstylist?
Thanks to my best friend, a hairstylist and designer, whom I met on the French team, I quickly gained access to the backstage of the fashion shows. Thanks to my professionalism and expertise, I am now a permanent assistant on the shows, which allows me to travel regularly: Dolce Gabbana in Italy, Dior in Shanghai, and London...
What shows have you been able to do, and which is your favorite?
I've been lucky enough to walk so many prestigious shows that I can't choose. But the technicality of some really stood out to me , and I was proud to be a part of them, like Alexander McQueen and Dior. Damien Boissinot and Guido Palau are the two big names in hairdressing I work for today.
To conclude this discussion, do you have any tips to give us for having top-notch hair?
“Less is more”! Never stray from your true hair nature , respect your hair nature and accept it and love yourself as you are.
Finally, never let anyone tell you what you should be! I will be there to guide you on the path to acceptance!
My motto: as long as you have dreams, nothing is impossible ✨
