Top tips for choosing your bathroom plant
The bathroom is an ideal place for plants, as long as it has a bathroom! Yes, even houseplants need light, but some less than others.
Houseplants are generally tropical and therefore require a lot of humidity. They can therefore thrive on the humidity in your bathroom. You'll need to be careful not to over-water them so as not to over-water them!
The presence of a window is nevertheless essential for the survival of your houseplants. If the window is opaque, or provides little light, choose a plant that requires a semi-shaded environment, such as Calatheas. On the other hand, if you have a bright bathroom, you can choose plants that require a significant amount of daily light, such as Alocasia.
Be careful, however, not to introduce plants that prefer dryness into your bathrooms, such as succulents and cacti. You'll also need to find the right location for your bathroom plants, making sure to keep them away from shower and bathtub splashes to avoid excess water and the appearance of mold.
The best bathroom plants
As we said earlier, some plant families are more suited to a humid environment and will therefore be better suited to your bathroom, among them:
- Calatheas & Maranta
- The Dypsis & Chamaedorea
- The Fittonia
- The Hypoestes
- Alocasia
- Ferns
All these plants love humidity but do not require the same amount of light, so find out in advance if the brightness of your bathroom will suit them!
