5 French oils to enhance your hair

This week, the LAO team looked into vegetable oils and their benefits for hair. You can use them as an oil bath, leaving them on for 1 or 2 hours before washing your hair. Keep in mind that even though we call it a "bath," the idea is not to saturate your hair with oil, but to spread a few drops (more or fewer depending on how thick your hair is) over the lengths and/or the roots.

If you have hair that tends to be oily, which already produces enough sebum, skip the roots!

Organic, cold-pressed oils are the best choice, because the manufacturing method does not alter their nutritional qualities.

As usual, we have only selected oils that can be sourced as close to home as possible, for a lower carbon impact and for the sake of traceability! For a quality oil, you can buy it directly from the producer or from small brands.

Here is our selection of 5 oils for your natural hair!

Mirabelle plum oil

Also known as the "gold of Lorraine," it is recommended for dry or weakened hair. This oil has detangling and conditioning properties. It is a good source of Omega 9, which will strengthen the hair and limit breakage.

Olive oil

This one is ideal for dry or color-treated hair. It is particularly rich in polyphenols, which gives it antioxidant power. Olive oil helps remove excess sebum on your scalp and also helps reduce dandruff. It also speeds up hair growth.

Grape seed oil

Perfectly suited to coily, afro hair. Thanks to its high fatty acid content (Omega 6 and 9), grape seed oil conditions, softens and repairs the hair. It also helps color-treated hair (or bleached hair) protect and keep its color. Note that for optimal quality, you should look for this oil in the cosmetics aisle (not the food aisle).

Broccoli oil

This is a particularly rich oil that will suit frizzy, curly or dry hair perfectly. It will give your hair shine and radiance. Its three bonus actions: it fights hair loss, detangles and makes brushing easier, and helps tame unruly hair!

Hemp oil

We often talk about it for its nutritional qualities, since it is rich in omega 3, 6 and 9. Highly recommended for curly hair, this oil has particularly nutrient-rich properties. It is also suitable for brittle and dull hair. Hemp oil cares for the hair deeply and restores its elasticity. It brings shine and volume.

So, which vegetable oil are you most tempted by? Feel free to share your feedback below this article if you try any of the products we suggest.
