The interview, question by question

Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

I'm Nathalie, and I founded Mademoiselle Cosmétique a year and a half ago. I've been passionate about cosmetics since I was little. I'm very drawn to organic and natural products.

Why did you choose to work with natural products?

The challenge is much more interesting when you work with organic and natural products. It's much harder, but it's also much more respectful of the environment, of the hair, of people as a whole. And so there you have it, the challenge is complete.

What do you love about your job?

It's the creativity, mixing all the ingredients together and making the best possible products out of them. It's expanding the field of possibilities and testing everything we have.

What's the benefit of using a natural shampoo?

I always say “nature attracts nature,” and that's the only way we'll do any good. Your hair needs natural ingredients, and that's the only way you'll keep it in good shape.

The kinder you are to your hair, the more it will thank you. A natural product has much more affinity with your hair. And that's what lets you take care of it if it needs care; much more effectively and without being aggressive.

Does a natural shampoo really clean?

Of course, just as effectively, and even more gently on the hair, whereas a conventional shampoo only uses aggressive surfactants, so it will clean but above all strip away everything that is healthy in the hair. A natural shampoo, on the other hand, just cleans while respecting the hair.

Is a natural shampoo more eco-friendly?

Yes, of course, especially the LAO shampoos, which are 100% natural origin. Since there are only natural ingredients, nature simply goes back to nature. Naturally, that's good for the environment.

What motivated you to formulate the LAO shampoos?

Lisa! First of all, Lisa and her conviction for natural products and for developing these good products.

You developed them with your heart, and you could feel it right away. You didn't want to do business, you actually wanted to make a healthy product for consumers, because you yourself couldn't find an answer to your problem.

So there you have it, it comes from such a good place that you want to get involved for people like that. And then there's the project of “a hair product that's 100% natural origin,” of course that's for me!

What are the strengths of the LAO shampoos?

They respect the hair. I always say that it counts for everything: when you respect your hair, it thanks you. It's having hair that's soft, supple, light, silky and super pleasant as a result.

A conventional shampoo weighs the hair down. You might not think much of it, but you can feel something on your head. With a natural shampoo, your hair feels light, soft and very pleasant day to day. Hair is much shinier and much more beautiful.

Do the LAO shampoos lather?

A lot, a whole lot, actually! The Purifying Shampoo lathers much more because it's made with ingredients that help it lather. Whereas the Nourishing Shampoo, as it's meant to care for the hair, contains plant oils, and these oils tend to “break the lather,” so they prevent it from building up. So you may notice a difference between the Purifying and the Nourishing because of that, but both of them clean and lather very well.

Do you have a favorite shampoo?

Well, no, because sometimes I want to purify my hair, so the Purifying one does the job perfectly. And sometimes, because I find my hair is drier, I want to give it a little extra care, so that's when I reach for the Nourishing one.

And for me, I think the two complement each other, unless someone has really oily hair, in which case it will be the Purifying one, or hair that's always dry. But when you have hair that's somewhere in between, they work well together!
