Today, we have the pleasure of interviewing Sara, a young Alsatian woman whose mission is to reimagine men's wardrobes with products that are both fashionable and sustainable. Discover the creation of this timeless wardrobe, Monsieur Mimosa, and the fast-paced life of a committed entrepreneur.
It's entrepreneurs like Sara who are making a difference and finding sustainable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of textile production. Let's discover Sara's journey to creating her clothing brand, Monsieur Mimosa.
Sara, founder of her clothing brand
Hello, thank you very much for interviewing me on the LAO blog! My name is Sara Khbaizi, I'm 29 years old and I'm from Strasbourg. I grew up and studied in Strasbourg. I studied finance and specialized in auditing, after which I joined a firm in Luxembourg where I worked for 3 years.
I then left everything behind to embark on this challenging entrepreneurial adventure! I had a thirst for creativity, for entrepreneurship, and above all, I needed to create a brand with a positive impact on the planet.
If I could describe myself in a few words, I would say that I am a creative, entrepreneurial person who has at least 100 ideas per minute!
I created my brand alone for a year and a half, then I expanded my team by integrating Catherine and Mathilde, who both help me a lot to develop Monsieur Mimosa on a daily basis!
Monsieur Mimosa, a timeless wardrobe for men
Monsieur Mimosa is a Strasbourg-based brand of ethical and responsible men 's ready-to-wear . I design the entire timeless wardrobe, which I have made by family workshops near us in France, Scotland, and Portugal.
It is a clothing brand aimed at all men who are looking to dress less but better.
What characterizes Monsieur Mimosa is timelessness , durability and ethics .
A Slow Fashion brand
As we enter 2022, the textile industry is the second most polluting in the world after petrochemicals.
Today, all means exist to produce less AND better, more locally by focusing on a cleaner manufacturing approach.
The committed slow fashion movement is driven by brands like Monsieur Mimosa, which are reshaping the textile production chain we all know by better sourcing raw materials, focusing on local production, and limiting the ecological impact of the production process. For example, we avoid highly polluting steps such as textile dyeing.
A life as an entrepreneur
The best decision I ever made was taking the leap into entrepreneurship. I learn every day, and I will never stop learning about my industry, others, and myself. Entrepreneurship pushes me to be the best I can be every day and to step out of my comfort zone.
My best memory in this entrepreneurial adventure is the arrival of my first prototype: my ÉMILE shirt which has become my iconic shirt!
In my opinion, the essential qualities for successfully creating your own clothing brand are being passionate, creative and persevering.
If I can give a little advice to those who are still hesitant to launch into entrepreneurship: GO FOR IT! Don't be afraid of failure because there will be some, but without failure, there is no success.
Thanks again to Sara for this wonderful interview!
